Virtru Now Generally Available

January 27, 2015

We’re very pleased to announce a major milestone in our mission to make it easy for everyone to keep their private information private.

Our belief has always been that both individuals and businesses have the right to simple, practical email encryption that works within the tools they already use – like GmailOutlook, and on the iOS and Android devices we all carry in our pockets.

Our newest version provides many feature enhancements, most notably an improved attachment experience for both senders and receivers. With a couple of clicks, anyone anywhere can decrypt and download any attachment you send.

With general availability of Virtru we have also released our first commercial offering, Virtru Pro. Our basic client-side email and attachment encryption remains free to everyone and is not limited in any way. Virtru Pro adds additional control and privacy features including:

And if you or your organization is subject to regulations like HIPAA, FERPA, or GLBA, Virtru Pro can help you comply.

You’ll find a full feature list and package comparison here.

Virtru and Virtru Pro are available for Chrome, Firefox, Outlook, iOS, and Android. The service works with virtually any email address, and is especially well suited for individuals and businesses using Google Apps for Work (now known as G Suite).

We believe Virtru is the easiest, most practical way to encrypt your email and protect your privacy. Please give it a try and let us know what you think.  You can download the free plug-in or subscribe to Virtu Pro here.

Many thanks to those of you who have supported us through the beta period.  We couldn’t have done it without you – your feedback and support has been instrumental in helping us sharpen our features, squash bugs, and refine our user experience.
