How can you possibly search if it’s encrypted? Doesn’t this mean it’s not really secure?
Encrypted Search does not replace traditional symmetric encryption, which will continue to be applied to your messages. It’s just an additional set of encrypted data specifically designed to let an authorized individual ask if a message contains a particular word without needing to perform any decryption or reveal the search word. Encrypted Search is part of a class of technologies called “Searchable Symmetric Encryption (SSE).”
