February 7, 2023 | 2pm-4.30pm CET | The U.S. Ambassador's Residence, Copenhagen
Join leading data privacy and IT security experts from the private and public sector as Virtru, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy, discuss the growing concept of ‘digital sovereignty’ and the changing way we govern, share and secure data.
"Digital sovereignty" is an idea that has become increasingly popular over the past decade. Helped in part by the introduction of GDPR in 2018 and Schrems in 2020, and energised by recent events including Apple’s introduction of Advanced Data Protection and the ongoing work to implement a replacement EU-U.S. data transfer deal.
Clearly, the world is unifying in one key regard - individuals should have total ownership and complete control over their own data.
Simply stated, digital sovereignty is about respecting data – and carefully considering how other people's information and digital assets are treated.
The result is that countries around the world, and indeed major cloud service providers, are now taking steps to implement measures to change the way that data is governed. Whilst driven by well-founded security and privacy concerns - it’s affecting business. Collaboration, innovation, cost efficiencies - all the best parts of working digitally are impacted.
