WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 11, 2025 – Virtru announced today that Mishi Choudhary, the company’s Senior Vice President and Lead Counsel, has been recognized by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) with a 2025 EFF Award. For more than 35 years, the EFF Awards have honored leaders and organizations advancing innovation and championing digital rights around the world.

Choudhary was recognized for her pioneering work as founder of the Software Freedom Law Center, India (SFLC.IN), a donor-supported legal services organization dedicated to protecting freedom in the digital world. Since its founding in 2010, SFLC.IN has led landmark litigation, fought censorship and internet shutdowns, and advocated for policies that protect privacy, free expression, and open access to information in India.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the EFF alongside so many inspiring leaders who have dedicated their lives to protecting digital rights,” said Choudhary. “At the Software Freedom Law Center, Virtru and throughout my whole career, I have worked to ensure that technology empowers people rather than restricts them, and I remain committed to that mission.”

In her role at Virtru, Choudhary guides the company’s legal strategy and works to advance its mission of delivering trusted data-centric solutions to government agencies, enterprises, and individuals worldwide.

The 2025 EFF Awards ceremony took place on September 10th in San Francisco.
