CMMC Level 2 isn’t assessed at the 110 security requirements level, but those requirements are evaluated through 320 individual assessment objectives. To receive MET for a requirement, all applicable objectives for that requirement must be satisfied. If you’ve spent any time looking at CMMC Level 2, you’ve probably had a moment where the scope felt overwhelming, and understandably so, but it’s critical you get it right before doing anything else.

But here’s what often gets lost in the noise: most organizations pursuing CMMC Level 2 certification already have a significant
portion of what they need.

The tools are often already there. What’s missing is understanding what each requirement is truly asking for, configuring the technology appropriately, documenting how the requirement is met, and being able to demonstrate that it is working.

Beyond that, the language in the official L2 Assessment Guide can seem confusing to someone who doesn’t have a compliance background. This guide is intended to help with that and put some of it into plain text - for the average person.
