WASHINGTON, D.C. — August 22, 2025 — The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has selected Dr. Wayne Chung, Chief Technology Officer at Virtru, to join the prestigious Information Science & Technology (ISAT) Study Group.

This elite advisory body assembles 40 leading experts in science and engineering to evaluate emerging opportunities in computer science and information technology, while providing strategic recommendations for future research initiatives. Since its establishment in 1987, the ISAT Study Group has served as a critical resource for DARPA's technology offices, delivering independent analysis of cutting-edge information science technologies relevant to U.S. Department of Defense operations.

“This is such an exciting opportunity," said Chung. "Being able to collaborate with some of the top minds and help identify where we should be focusing our research efforts to ensure our nation has a decisive advantage in all domains is incredibly rewarding work.”

Chung's selection reflects his distinguished expertise in data security, cybersecurity innovation, and advanced analytics across government and industry. His background includes serving as CTO at the FBI; contributing to cybersecurity, computer network operations, and conter-terrorism initiatives as part of the NSA’s think tank; and currently advising the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Courts as Technical Amicus Curiae. In his role as CTO at Virtru, Chung oversees technical strategy and implementation for the company's data-centric security solutions that protect both enterprise customers and national security organizations.
