For defense contractors, Microsoft is the status quo. With the onset of CMMC requirements for DoD contracts, many have felt compelled to upgrade to Microsoft's expensive GCC High package, which can more than double the license cost.

For lean, efficient defense contractors like SHE BASH, GCC High wouldn't just cost money; it would also cost precious time that they wouldn't be able to get back. Watch the video as SHE BASH CEO Bunny Banowsky and CTO Cameron Banowsky share their story.

For a Microsoft GCC High alternative, many of Virtru's customers have chosen Google Workspace for CMMC, or they have selected a different Microsoft configuration (such as Commercial Cloud or Azure) with additional layers of CUI encryption, such as Virtru client-side encryption and granular access control for emails and files.

Protect and Share CUI with Virtru for Google and Microsoft

Whether you are using Microsoft or Google, Virtru complements your existing workflows to protect CUI (controlled unclassified information) with FedRAMP authorized, FIPS 140.2-validated encryption and granular access control that extends beyond your perimeter, everywhere CUI is shared. GCC High has tons of ambiguity and red tape on procurement due to their segregated infrastructure and separate team. With Google, I simply added licenses for assured controls to meet our needs. Google's onboarding was easier, more frictionless than Microsoft's, and offers better products.

The contracting portion on the Microsoft side was somewhat arduous From a business standpoint, the timing, aligning is very, very important as well as the cost. We're a really, really small shop. And so every literal dollar, every cent counts.

And so we're always looking for cost optimization opportunities. And I know that with Google, as opposed to like the Microsoft side, just Google has built itself out its its fabric platform, assured workloads, the whole kit and caboodle in a scalable way that ends up really driving down the bottom line to be more cost efficient, which is always, at least for us, a factor that we take into consideration when making the business decision based on tech factors.

We're extremely happy with Virtru Private Keystore and client side encryption, CSE.

It saved us from migrating to a more expensive, less enjoyable Microsoft GCC high setup.

I'll take managing two Kubernetes applications and a Google back end integration over administrating a Microsoft tenant any day.
