DC Mayor Highlights Virtru's New Headquarters in DC Comeback Plan
Virtru's roots are in Washington, DC. Our founders, John and Will Ackerly, are DC natives, and their respective experiences in the federal government led them to create Virtru in 2012 — making simple, powerful cybersecurity more accessible than ever before.
Now, we are proud to be expanding Virtru's headquarters with a new location on Pennsylvania Avenue in downtown DC. The new space will serve as a collaboration hub, equipping our team to connect even more closely with our customers and the DC community.
Virtru is the First DC Vitality Fund Participant
Today, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser highlighted Virtru's new headquarters as part of the unveiling of the DC Comeback Plan, which centers around making the District a place for "successful businesses, opportunity-rich neighborhoods, and thriving people." Supporting the Comeback Plan is the Vitality Fund, which is intended to incentivize and fuel growth for DC-based businesses. Virtru was the first applicant to the Vitality Fund and will continue to stay and grow in DC with a 13-year lease in the new space.
“There’s no place in the world like Washington, DC, and we are thrilled to be expanding Virtru’s headquarters in our new office space on Pennsylvania Avenue,” our CEO and Co-Founder, John Ackerly, said. “Virtru operates at the intersection of business, policy, and driving positive societal change — so there’s no better place for us to continue growing and scaling our business. In partnership with local vendors — DC’s best and brightest — we are designing our new headquarters with innovation, collaboration, and community in mind. We are proud to create a space for our customers and the community to connect with our team as we build a brighter future for data privacy and security, together.”
An Innovative DC Startup Through and Through
Innovation has always been at the heart of Virtru’s mission, and we are thrilled to continue fostering collaboration and community in the District, as we always have. Cybersecurity is a team sport: We need to bring many partners and customers to the table, and DC is a fantastic place to facilitate those conversations across the private and public sectors.
