Whether it’s PTC, Ascential, IBM, or Sonatype—I’ve been fortunate to help grow and scale some terrific companies over the course of my career. And, despite the fact that these companies operated in different parts of the software industry, they all had one thing in common: great people who were passionate about helping customers solve difficult problems.

So, with that as the backdrop, I am thrilled to share that I have joined Virtru, a global leader in data security that not only has amazing products – but it’s also filled with terrific people including Bill Smith, Matthew Howard, John Ackerly, Will Peppo, Dana Morris, and Conley (Henderson) McIntyre – all of whom are committed to helping customers solve hard problems.

My experience at Sonatype introduced me to the challenges of cybersecurity and the initial investments in Zero Trust security architectures. I saw customers embracing tools that could help them automate policies designed to protect identities, devices, networks, and applications. What stood out though based on my years at Ascential and IBM was the data itself.

Data, after all, is every organization's most valuable resource and it is the ultimate target of almost every attacker. But it’s also constantly on the move—being downloaded, shared, copied, and modified. You can’t afford to lock it down, and you can’t afford to lose control of it either. So what are businesses and IT teams supposed to do? How can they share data freely without sacrificing security, privacy or control?

    The answer is Virtru.

Over the past several years, Virtru has built a terrific business and a collection of best in class “data-policy” applications on top of the TDF platform. Today, these applications are used by more than 7,000 business customers to secure and protect sensitive data flowing in and out their organizations via email, file sharing systems, and SaaS applications.

I am fortunate that I realize/know my motivation (outside of my family) is in coaching and developing people. I also love a challenge where a group of people are willing to do things others aren't to accomplish a tremendous/outrageous goal (specifically in a company focused on growth). My engagement with Virtru offers me both. The chance to join a company with a very specific mission fueled with passion and a leadership team that is experienced and collaborative by design. This is very exciting to me and what I am looking for in the next opportunity for my career.

“For every ending, there is a new beginning”... I am excited for my new beginning at Virtru with both old and new friends!
