Today, we’re excited to announce several product updates intended to strengthen our customers’ privacy management initiatives. These enhancements encompass functionality that will bolster key management, authentication, and administration capabilities by aligning Virtru with existing privacy and security infrastructure and processes.
Key Management:
We’re enabling interoperability between customers’ hardware security modules (HSMs) and our customer-hosted key management option, the Virtru Customer Key Server (CKS), by supporting the Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP). KMIP enables secure key exchanges between servers and clients for encryption and decryption operations, without requiring direct access to the key. With KMIP, customer organizations with on-premise HSMs can integrate with the Customer Key Server for an added layer of encryption, hosted and managed directly on their premises, for absolute control over their most sensitive data.
Authentication:
This update allows customers to integrate Virtru with Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions to strengthen existing identity and access management and authentication processes. After configuring Virtru to connect with their SAML 2.0-supported SSO solution with a simple workflow within the Virtru Dashboard, user activation and Dashboard login workflows will defer to the customer’s SSO to handle authentication for seamless, secure access to Virtru’s services.
Administration:
In addition to the new SSO configuration workflow, the Virtru Dashboard will be updated with enhanced users and groups administration. Administrators can more easily edit permissions for how users, groups, and organizational units (OUs) can interact with private data by enabling or disabling settings such as the ability to manage Data Loss Prevention (DLP) rules, view secure metadata, or adapt controls or revoke access to data on behalf of other users. Admins can also populate their latest users and groups from G Suite or Active Directory with an on-demand domain sync and monitor Virtru adoption and usage by reviewing user invitation and activation status.
All of these privacy enhancements will be included with our existing solution capabilities and are therefore free of charge for existing customers. Stay tuned for more exciting product updates throughout the year, and if you have any questions about this new functionality, email support@virtru.com, and our team will be happy to help.
