Contact Tracing Apps Study
Measuring Americans’ Trust, Confidence, and Willingness to Share Sensitive Health Data
Contact tracing is an important tool in the effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, and contact tracing apps offer the potential to reach more people faster. However, without proper data security and control embedded into the apps, privacy becomes a grave concern. To better understand Americans’ perception of privacy and willingness to participate in contact tracing efforts, we commissioned The Harris Poll to survey over 2,000 individuals. The findings in this report are based on that research.
What You’ll Learn:
- Who Americans trust most to develop a contact tracing app.
- How confidence in the efficacy and privacy of contact tracing apps varies based on region, age, and app developer.
- How the ability to control access to sensitive health data impacts Americans’ willingness to participate in contact tracing efforts.
